Piano 56 Vol.1

“Piano 56” is the first, and most foundational 56 day program in our series. Over the course of the first two weeks, you will learn proper technique, posture, and your finger numbers. You will understand pitch and rhythms created by quarter notes and quarter rests, half notes and half rests, dotted half notes, and whole notes and whole rests. You will also learn about dynamic marks, the c pentascale, how to play with a metronome, and you will be able to identify every white key on the piano.
In the third week, you will begin reading music on the treble staff, the bass staff, and then the grand staff. You will be able to identify the various components of the staff (time signature, bar lines, measures, double bar lines, treble clef, bass clef, hand position and dynamics).
The fourth week continues introducing new notes to the grand staff, 3/4 time, and we explore octaves. Day 29 marks the half-way point of the program and is also the first day of the fifth week, which is completely dedicated to refining your technique and understanding all of the concepts from the first four weeks.
Weeks six and seven continue to introduce new notes on the grand staff, which naturally increases the difficulty of the music. You’ll also learn about repeat signs, ties, intervals, upbeats, the c major chord, crescendos, diminuendos, and ritardandos in these weeks.
Week eight is the final week of the program (days 50-56), and each day is dedicated to reviewing a prior week. For instance, you will review the concepts from week one on day 50, review week two on day 51, week three on day 52, etc… By day 56, you will be able to understand and apply all of the concepts you have learned throughout this course, and you will be reading music and playing the piano with both hands simultaneously.
